How much does a certified true copy cost in Canada?

The base cost

A certified true copy is $49.99 CAD for the first document, covering the notary's examination of your physical original on camera, comparison against your copy, the certification statement, signature and seal, and same-day email delivery. Each additional copy or page certified in the same appointment is $26 CAD.

Why ordering together saves the most here

Certified copies are the document type where bundling makes the largest difference, because people routinely need the same credential certified several times over — one for a licensing body, one for an employer, one for an immigration file, one kept in reserve. Each of those is a separate certification, but only the first carries the full fee.

The arithmetic

Applicants for professional licensing, graduate programs, and immigration streams commonly need three or more. If there is any chance you will need another copy later, certifying it now is roughly half the cost of coming back.

Multi-page documents

Page count matters as well as copy count. A single-page diploma is one item. A ten-page transcript is charged per page, since the notary must examine and certify each one. A transcript certification therefore costs meaningfully more than a diploma — worth knowing before you assume the base fee covers it.

What you are not paying for

Two things people expect to be charged for, and are not. First, you never pay to ship or surrender your original — it stays in your hands throughout, examined on camera. Traditional certification sometimes involves mailing originals, with courier costs and the genuine risk of losing an irreplaceable document. Second, the eligibility check is free: if your document cannot be certified remotely, we tell you before you pay.

When certification is not possible at any price

Some documents cannot be certified by a notary regardless of fee. If you only hold a scan or emailed PDF, there is no physical original to compare against. Certain vital statistics records must be certified by the issuing authority itself. And a copy of a copy — including a previously certified copy — does not qualify. If your destination country requires an apostille or consular legalization, that is a separate government process that follows notarization and carries its own government fees and timelines.
