How to notarize a travel consent letter
What to include, who signs, and tips from real trips.
A child travel consent letter is $49.99 CAD notarized online with one signing parent. A second parent signing in the same appointment is charged at the $26 additional rate.
Evening, weekend, and same-day appointments are priced the same as any other slot. Travelling tomorrow does not cost more than travelling next month.
Same-day appointments are usually available, 7am–11pm daily — at no rush surcharge.

Notarizing a child travel consent letter online is $49.99 CAD with one signing parent or guardian. That covers identity verification, witnessing the signature, the notary's signature and seal, and same-day email delivery so you can print a copy before you travel.
If both parents need to sign — the usual situation when a child travels with a grandparent, a school group, or alone — the second signature is charged at the $26 CAD additional rate when handled in the same appointment. Two parents signing together is therefore $75.99, not two full fees.
Parents do not need to be in the same place, or even the same time zone, to sign in one appointment. Each joins the video call from wherever they are, shows ID, and signs on camera. This is a genuine practical advantage over in-person notarization, where separated or geographically distant parents often end up booking two appointments and paying twice.
The non-accompanying parent signs the consent letter: $49.99.
Both parents sign in the same appointment: $49.99 plus $26, or $75.99.
Where a single letter covers both children, the additional page is $26 — $75.99 with one signing parent. If the destination requires a separate letter per child, the second letter is charged at the additional rate in the same appointment rather than as a new booking.
All figures are in Canadian dollars and reflect our published rates. Your exact total is always shown before you confirm a booking — there are no fees added afterwards.
If you have sole custody, you may not need a consent letter from the other parent at all. Border officials generally want to see the custody order itself. In that case what you need is a certified true copy of the order — also $49.99 for the first copy, with additional pages at $26. Since custody orders often run several pages, ask us for an exact quote rather than assuming the base fee covers it.
The fee is the same whether you book three weeks out or the night before, so there is no financial reason to leave this late. There is a practical one though. If a detail is wrong — a misspelled name, wrong return date, a missing passport number — catching it a few days early means a quick correction. Catching it the morning of your flight means travelling without a usable letter. Notarize once the travel dates are confirmed.
Read the guide to notarizing a travel consent letter for exactly what to include and who must sign. General fees are on the pricing page. For an exact quote, tell us your situation — number of children, which parents are signing, and the destination.

No, not if they sign in the same appointment. The second parent's signature is charged at the $26 additional rate rather than a second full fee, even if the parents are in different cities.
No. Evening, weekend, and same-day slots are all priced identically. Travelling tomorrow costs the same as travelling next month.
You may not need a consent letter at all — officials usually want the custody order itself. A certified true copy of that order is $49.99 for the first copy plus $26 per additional page, and custody orders are often multi-page, so ask for a quote.
Often yes, with the additional page charged at $26. Some destinations require a separate letter per child; handled in the same appointment, the second letter is charged at the additional rate rather than a new booking.
